Agroshoppy Cast Iron Uthappam Tawa is a versatile piece of cookware designed for making delicious South Indian uthappams. Crafted from high-quality cast iron, this tawa features a flat cooking surface with shallow indentations, perfect for cooking uthappams evenly. Its sturdy construction and excellent heat retention make it a must-have for any kitchen.

Seasoning: Before first use, season the tawa by coating it with a thin layer of cooking oil. Heat the tawa on low-medium heat for 10-15 minutes. Repeat this process 2-3 times to build a non-stick surface and enhance its durability.

Preheat: Preheat the tawa on low-medium heat for a few minutes before adding the batter to ensure even cooking.

Preparing Batter: Prepare the uthappam batter by mixing fermented rice and lentil batter to a smooth consistency. Add toppings like onions, tomatoes, or green chilies as desired.

Cooking: Once the tawa is preheated, pour a ladleful of batter onto the center of the tawa and spread it evenly to form a thick pancake. Add toppings on the surface and drizzle with oil around the edges.

Cover and Cook: Cover the tawa with a lid and allow the uthappam to cook on low heat for a few minutes until the edges start to brown.

Flip and Cook: Using a spatula, gently flip the uthappam to cook the other side. Cook uncovered for an additional 1-2 minutes until both sides are evenly golden brown.

Serve: Once cooked to perfection, remove the uthappam from the tawa and serve hot with chutney or sambar.

Care Instructions:

Cleaning: After use, allow the tawa to cool before washing it with warm water and mild soap. Use a soft sponge or brush to remove any food residues. Avoid using harsh abrasives that can damage the seasoning.

Drying: Thoroughly dry the tawa with a towel or by placing it on low heat on the stove. Ensure it is completely dry to prevent rusting.

Maintenance: After each use, apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the tawa to maintain its seasoning and prevent corrosion.

The handle of the tawa feels flimsy and insecure. It doesnt provide a comfortable grip making it difficult to handle when cooking. Expected better quality for the price.
